Chaplain’s Corner
Last week the theme for our Senior School assembly was ‘self-discipline’. I related an incident which took place one evening four years ago as I was preparing a reflection on self-discipline. My general rule is that after having a cup of tea in the evening, I do not eat anything else.

The race that stops a nation is a reminder that I am not against placing a modest bet on a horse race once a year, but I do feel uncomfortable with some of the excess we see at this time of year.

We all need hope. When all hope is gone, so too is our motivation, our creativity and our enthusiasm for the future. Too many people in our world are void of hope. They see things as they are and cannot visualise them being any different. They thus become resigned to their circumstances.

VCE and IB exams start soon for Senior School students and many students and parents around the country are in a state of tension and stress. And that’s actually normal. However, trouble can start when exam stress or performance anxiety become overwhelming for students.
