Grandfriends visit the ELC

There was a lovely buzz and lots of smiles around the ELC last week when many Grandparents and friends came to visit the ELC children.

The children’s connection to their grandfriends of a different generation is so important for their sense of identity and belonging. It was so joyful to see the children cooking in the mud patch with their guest, reading stories and just having fun together.

Thank you to the grandparents and special friends who took the time to join us in the ELC and to the many who kindly offered to share their company with other children whose grandparents were unable to attend.

Janine de Paiva, our Junior School Chaplain, will be visiting the ELC this week to talk to the children about the happy–sad–happy story of Easter and what the symbols of Easter represent, such as the cross and the egg.

You might like to ask your child about this visit and share your thoughts on the traditions of this special time of the year.

ELC playground
Please note that the ELC playground is not supervised after 3.00pm and boards which secure the climbing equipment are packed away by this time. For this reason, we ask that children do not play in the ELC playground at the end of the day. You can supervise your child in the school playground until 3.45pm when parents are asked to take their children home.

ELC photographer in May
ELC photographs will be taken by Kane Jarrod during the third week of Term 2, week beginning 13 May. There will be an announcement in Daily Messages at the beginning of Term 2. You will need to pre-book and prepay to have your child photographed and there will be a photo booklet next to each sign-in book as a sample for you to see.

Please see Alex or me if you have any questions about this service.

Mothers Day evenings
These events will be held during the second week of Term 2. These are evenings for children to bring their mothers to their ELC rooms (please note that other siblings are not to attend this event).

  • Wednesday 8 May: Oak Room and two-day Music Room
  • Thursday 9 May: Bay Room and three/five-day Music Room

Tuning in to kids
Unfortunately we have had to cancel this parenting course as there were only five parents who expressed their interest in attending.

Term 2
It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of Term 1. We have had a wonderful 10 weeks of getting to know new children, watching them grow and build confidence and friendships. We are very much looking forward to what Term 2 will have in store for us.

Term 1 will end at the usual time tomorrow, Friday 5 April.

Best wishes for a safe and happy time with your family over the school holidays.
