A hive of activity over the break
Over the Easter break we undertook a very ambitious program of renovations. In just 12 working days, the Prep classrooms, lower school toilets, ELC bathrooms and the school tuckshop were all transformed. Apart from some finishing touches remaining, the results have been very impressive indeed.
The tuckshop has enjoyed a complete refit including new benchtops, sinks, refrigerators, colours and branding. This transformation coincides with the launching of the Flexischools online ordering system this week.
The Prep children and their teachers are very excited about their new learning environments which include:
- new air conditioning and heating
- completely renovated toilets
- 75" ICT screens
- the creation of a new instruction space
- new hardwood furniture and storage units
- child friendly sinks
- new carpets and wet area lino
- new whiteboards and noticeboards
- new blinds
- fresh paintwork
These upgrades will continue during the mid-year break with the Year 1 enjoying a makeover. These learning environments will also see new split-system air conditioning and heating installed, as well as similar additions and upgrades to those listed above which will complete the picture.
Honouring the ANZACs: Courage, endurance and mateship.
Whilst Anzac Day was officially two weeks ago, this week’s assembly was our first opportunity to pause as a community and reflect on the cost of war and to remember those who fought and lost their lives for their country. The leadership of our Year 6 students was very much appreciated as they conducted a poignant Anzac service. Under the sensitive guidance of our Year 6 teachers, Bruce Oakley and Allison Stummer, the students were encouraged to share their thoughts on what Anzac Day means to them. The Chamber Choir’s rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’ certainly provided a touching and reflective moment. Representatives from the Doncaster RSL, including their president Charles Collins, were our honoured guests.
